Mike Gubser is a poet and historian who lives in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
Currently a history professor at James Madison University, he has worked as a writer for an international development organization, a journalist in Massachusetts, a high school history teacher, an instructor at San Quentin Penitentiary and an English teacher in Prague, Czechoslovakia. He has published two books of poetry and a book on history, arthistory and philosophy in turn-of-the-century Vienna.
His play, Comfort Zone, was staged in Newburyport, Massachusetts in 2003, and his band, Chico Motel, released the album Cheesemaker in 2004.
Much of his literary writing focuses on the intersection between poetic, musical, and visual languages.
